Paper Summary:

This paper summarizes the plot and characters in the film "The Big Kahuna". The paper explains that the film is about three industrial lubricant salesmen sent to land a very important account with a rich businessman called the Big Kahuna and then analyzes the film from a variety of viewpoints such as Christian history, the parable of "The Lost Sheep" in Matthew 18, philosophers Soren Kierkegaard and Nietzsche and Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "The Grand Inquisitor". The paper concludes that engagement in culture is best done when people follow Christ's commandment to love God and your neighbors.

From the Paper:

"Phil's condition throughout the movie can perhaps be identified as despair. Phil is the one who has much to say about life being like clocks and mirrors. Mirrors reflect the self to the self and in the discovery of that true self one becomes authentic. Phil says God created women to be mirrors, so that men can see their own soul when looking into the eyes of their wife. This image will cause despair (throwing up for a couple days) since nobody can stand that image."
