"Bolan (2008) provided a thorough recount of the events encompassing a ten year period characterized by over 100 murders between three Indo-Canadian gangs: the Independent Soldiers, the United Nations, and the Indo-Canadian Mafia. The motivations for the killings, according to Gordon (2008), were primarily related to drug control; were familial, retaliatory, and originating in India. The deceased kingpin of the United Nations, still a commanding gang in B.C., was reported to have killed his own associates on impulse for threats of desertion, and simple negative comments directed at him."
