A discussion of several different factors that influenced Karl Marx and shaped his view on society.
1,459 words (approx. 5.8 pages) | 6 sources | APA | 2006 Canada

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses various influences on Marx's thought, beginning with his upbringing and education. The writer describes the development of Marx's revolutionary ideas, under the influences of other theorists, such as Friedrich Engels, and economists, such as Adam Smith. The writer also explains that the enormous changes brought about by the industrial revolution and the growing class-consciousness of his time were the most influential factors shaping Marx's ideology.

From the Paper:

"Marx saw with this that revolution was inevitable, and felt that the way to properly abolish the straining relationship between bourgeoisie and proletariat was through communism. He advocated mainly the abolishment of private property to ensure that one could not take advantage of such property to exploit workers. Marx's communism also called for the placement of a national bank that controlled money flow for the entire country. It was this social atmosphere which enabled Marx to consider such radical change in ideology and politics, and to point out the various flaws capitalist competition creates."
